Waste blending plant opens

Europe's first waste solidification and fixation (SAF) plant, operated by the waste treatment division of Lanstar, has opened at Cadishead, Manchester. The plant, which cost £1.3million, processes wastes such as steel and plastic containers, along with their contents, to produce a homogeneous mass that can be landfilled without leaching.
