Configure off-the-shelf
15 Jan 2000
Specifically designed to operate with the SEM420P programmable in-head temperature transmitter, a new configuration module from Status Instruments allows users to hold standard transmitters in stock and take any one off the shelf and configure it within two to three minutes for any range required.
This is achieved by linking the module to a PC and using a simple program to set the temperature span within the transmitter's input range of -200 degrees to 650 degreesC.
The operator simply keys in the new high and low values corresponding to the 4-20mA current loop limits and downloads them to the SEM204P.
The SEM204P is designed for use with Pt100 sensors and has an accuracy of 0.1degC, +/-0.15 per cent of reading, a figure that is said to include calibration, linearity errors and hysteresis effects.
