Polyethylene demand to rise
15 Jan 2000
New applications and improvements in production technologies are driving demand for polyethylene, says a report from the Freedonia Group. The global market is growing at 5 per cent annually, says the US-based market research firm, and will reach 54million tonnes by 2003, it says. New grades of PE are supplanting PVC and polystyrene, it says, while high-performance metallocene-derived grades are creating inroads into traditonal performance polymer markets.
