The Sira Group has appointed David Newman as a joint managing director in charge of engineering, development, product and service operations. He also becomes chairman of the group's new measurement and inspection business, and its hazardous area and instrumentation calibration business, Sira Test and Certification. Campbell Dixon will become the managing director of the former business.
* Rotork promotes R&D
Bath-based valve control specialist Rotork has raised the status of R&D to director level, and appointed Graham Ogden as its first R&D director. He has been with the company since 1985, most recently as electronics design manager.
* What's cooking with Kitchen
Milltronics has named Dave Kitchen as its new managing director. He was previously managing director and chairman of Honeywell South Africa and a past president of the South African Institute of Measurement and Control.
* A new chapter for Storey
Kevin Storey is to become business development manager for the process division of Schenck, which supplies weighing and feeding systems. Storey gained his experience of the solids handling field at Portasilo.
* Hoffmaster steps up for F-R
Jim Hoffmaster has been named president of Austin, Texas-based Fisher-Rosemount Systems. He was previously senior vice-president for technology.
* Willson gets the measure of Solartron
Solartron Metrology, which manufactures gauging probes and displacement transducers, has named Joe Willson as managing director.
