Multivariable monitoring

Aspen Multivariate, an application within Aspen Technology's InfoPlus.21 process information management system, is claimed to be the first multivariable software product for on-line monitoring, analysis and fault detection in process plants.
By analysing the complex correlations between plant variables such as temperature, pressure and flows, the Multivariate software can alert operators and engineers to potential problems, allowing them to change plant conditions before product quality is substantially affected.
Mulitvariate analysis provides statistical techniques that treat two or more related variables as one latent variable, producing a result that accurately represents dominant trends in plant data. It can be used to monitor changes in continuous processes or, when coupled with AspenTech's Batch.21 module for InfoPlus, batch processes for pharmaceutical or speciality chemical operations.
