Scorpion takes the sting out of lifting
15 Jan 2000
With over 50,000 working days lost in the UK each year through injuries caused by lifting and carrying, the new range of vacuum lifting systems from Scorpion could prove a major money-saver.
The systems consist of a reinforced lifting tube, control head and suction foot, suspended from an overhead crane or gantry. The suction foot allows loads from 10kg to 300kg to be lifted and manoeuvered around the area covered by the gantry. A range of grippers are available to handle drums, sacks, boxes and sheets.
The system is simple to operate, claims Scorpion, with a rotary grip which controls raise, lower and release functions. The grip incorporates a safety valve which stops the load from being released if power is lost.
