Statistical control can be automated
15 Jan 2000
With its PI-SQC package, OSI Software says the manual task of statistical quality control can be replaced with automated calculations of the data. Results are shown on a three-part chart - control chart, histogram and legend - which is customisable and can be configured to users' specifications.
PI-SQC is an add-in to OSI's PI-ProcessBook. It retrieves data from the PI DataArchive and/or from an ODBC database, then automatically performs statistical calculations to determine process behaviour.
`PI-SQC allows PI System users to look ahead and proactively monitor their control zones,' says OSI's Don Smith. `We have seen huge economic benefits and increased profitability in plants just by implementing PI-SQC.'
Users can select up to eight different PI-SQC control charts, and can configure alarm conditions specific to each. The histogram component of the PI-SQC chart is a bar graph of the frequency distribution of the plot data.
