Kvaerner finishes pipeline project
15 Jan 2000
An 830km pipeline linking the oilfields of Azerbaijan to the Black Sea ports has been completed by Kvaerner. The project took less than three years from planning to completion.
The pipeline starts at the Sangachal Terminal on the Caspian Sea, crosses the steppes, mountains, ravines and rivers of central Asia, and finishes at the offshore loading system at Supsa on Georgia's Black Sea coast. During the construction of the pipeline, over 2.5million man-hours were worked with no time lost through injury - an achievement which won the project a RoSPA award. Its annual throughput will be in the region of 115,000 barrels per day (some 5million tpa).
