Risk management lessons at the speed of sound
15 Jan 2000
Risk minimisation is a vital part of management of any project, but Ron Ayers, pictured below, had an even more daunting task than most on his last project. The former missile designer was the chief engineer on the Thrust SSC project, the landspeed record attempt which successfully broke the sound barrier on land last year, and had to ensure that the car was not only fast, but stable and safe for its driver and crew.
Ayers is the keynote speaker at a forthcoming seminar on risk management hosted by TaV, which will focus on how companies should cope with the rapidly-growing volume of legislation on risk issues. Ayers' experience of exhaustive computer simulation and testing of a real model offers valuable lessons, says TaV.
The seminar, to be held at Brands Hatch on 29 June, will help delegates to understand the value of certificates such as ISO9000 and 14000, and the impact of the packaging and waste directives on their businesses.
