Warrior lays down its arms

Fisher-Rosemount is to make available a royalty-free licence under its Warrior US patent for the manufacture and sale of Foundation fieldbus-compatible or Hart-compatible transmitters or controllers. The patent relates to process control technology that moves control functionality from the control room directly into 'smart' field-mounted transmitters and controllers that receive power and communications over a single two-wire process control loop.
To promote the adoption of Foundation fieldbus and Hart technologies, the licence is only being made available to Foundation and Hart Communication Foundation members. F-R intends to enforce its patent against others.
'This is further proof of our commitment towards the goal of providing the open, interoperable communications protocols that many of our customers require', says Kevin Jackson, F-R UK managing director.
