Look, no leaks, no maintenance

Being demonstrated on stand E4a in Hall 10.2 is the new GT series of seals from Advanced Products & Technologies (AP&T). Including seals for fans, blowers and other rotating process equipment, this new series is said to break new ground by offering leakproof Ferrofluidic rotary sealing at the same price as conventional mechanical sealing.
Using magnetic liquids, Ferrofluidic sealing offers immeasurable leakage (less than 3ppm) in both static and dynamic conditions. It relies on the ability to position and control a magnetic fluid to form a liquid O ring around the rotating shafts. This ring can conform to any anomaly in the surface of the shaft or eccentricity in its rotation.
The frictional forces exerted by the ferrofluid are negligible, giving years of maintenance-free operation, says AP&T. And even if the ferrofluid needs replenishing, it can be added through a patented fill port while the seal is still in place and the shaft rotating.
