Powder to liquid mixer upgrade from Winkworth
15 Jan 2000
Reading-based Winkworth Machinery, manufacturers of Tatham-Forberg mixers, has launched an improved model with extended options.
Tatham-Forberg mixers are used for a number of applications including animal feeds, building materials, chemicals, foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, but with the new options the mixer is ideal for introducing fine powders to liquids to produce a homogenous product.
New to the basic model, aimed at improving hygiene is a welded-in drive end plate, outboard bearings, adjustable packing glands with an option of air purge and easier replacement of seals.
Optional extras include pin mills, tulip knives and flow distortion bars. The pin mills are used to crush lumps or increase shear forces within the vessel. High speed rotating tulip knives are used to crush lumps at lower filling levels. Flow distortion bars aid the addition of liquid to fine powder by throwing a horizontal curtain of powder across the liquid stream.
The mixer is also suitable for mixing fragile flakes, pellets and spray dried granules of either consistent or mixed particle size. The mixers are available in sizes ranging from 20 to 5,000litres.
