Cast iron gear pump suits low flow at high pressures
15 Jan 2000
A novel range of cast iron gear pumps suited to low volume, high pressure metering and liquid transfer applications are available from Michael Smith Engineers.
The Shertech pumps are available in long-coupled, frame mounted configuration or as close-coupled head kits, mounted to a motor. Available in five sizes the pumps handle flowrates up to 80l/min at pressures of 125psi.
The design incorporates an integral, self-lubricating ball bearing which supports the pump shaft to ensure extra radial support, making the frame-mounted option suitable for long-coupling or belt-driven applications.
The cast iron pumps are available with an optional piston relief/regulating valve which can be used for either pump protection or to regulate flow and pressure. In each case the valve can be set while the pump is in operation.
The Shertech range, claims Michael Smith, is suitable for most metering and transfer applications for liquid organic chemicals and oils, wherever pulse-free fluid transfer is required.
