Merger of chemical e-markets

cc-markets and chemplorer, two Internet marketplaces for the electronic purchasing of technical goods and services in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, have agreed to combine their future activities.
The founding companies of cc-markets (BASF, Degussa, Henkel, SAPMarkets) and chemplorer (Bayer, Chemfidence, Deutsche Telekom) have agreed to the project in a letter of intent.
The aim of the merger is to create a significant marketplace for the exchange of technical goods and services in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries in Europe. The new company, named 'cc-chemplorer', is scheduled to go on line on April 1, 2001.
BASF, Degussa, Henkel, SAPMarkets (cc-markets) and Bayer, Chemfidence, Telekom (chemplorer) will have one vote each on a new supervisory board.
The ownership distribution will be fifty-fifty for the current marketplaces and their operators.
In Germany, cc-chemplorer will be run out of existing sites in Bonn (chemplorer) and Griesheim (cc-markets).
