Grace forms joint venture with Chevron
20 Mar 2001
The Davison business unit of W. R. Grace has joined with Chevron Products to form Advanced Refining Technologies LLC (ART).
The new venture will develop and market globally hydroprocessing catalysts to customers in the petroleum refining industry. It began operations on March 1st, 2001.
ART offers a line of catalysts for upgrading heavy oil (known as 'resid') and for distillate hydrotreating operations, including vacuum gas oil, hydrocracking pretreat and product post-treat applications. Refiners use these catalysts to remove sulphur and other contaminants from petroleum to produce more environmentally friendly transportation fuels.
Because of increasingly stringent environmental regulations governing clean air worldwide, this is one of the fastest growing segments of the catalyst market. Catalyst expertise from both companies has been contributed to ART, and scientists from both companies will work together to develop new technology.
Davison and Chevron Products have equal representation on the company's board of directors.
