19 Feb 2001
Air Liquide and Nuvera Fuel Cells are to form a joint venture that will develop and market complete power systems based on fuel cell and fuel processor technology. The company, which is yet unamed, will be based in Sassenage, near Grenoble, in France.
The new products developed by the joint venture will be capable of use in both stationary and mobile applications, such as buses and streetcars as well as utility vehicles. All the systems will use hydrogen as their main fuel source.
The new company will be supported by a team of engineers from Nuvera's European office, who will be responsible for the fuel cell stack.
Air Liquide will help Nuvera develop the stack and will be responsible for developing hydrogen production and storage technology and ancillary fuel cell equipment, and for the testing and qualifying of the integrated systems.
