Tip-top pH protection
7 Feb 2001
With its TOP 68 electrode, Endress and Hauser claims a world first by providing IP68 sealing protection between a pH electrode and its transmitter. This means that moisture and dirt can no longer interfere with the accuracy and reliability of process pH readings.
TOP's (total operational protection) performance is achieved by a novel plug-in system requiring only two O-ring seals. The system is sealed the moment the connector comes into contact with the O-ring. The system can resist pressures up to 25bar, containing leaks even in the event of the electrode becoming detached.
The contact housing is made of water-resistant PFA, with a PPS tongue-and-groove plug connecting system. E+H says this ensures that any mechanical stress is placed on the hard PPS material, leaving the PFA plug-in fully protected.
TOP 68 is available in two-four and six-pole versions, with a modular configuration allowing the system to be adapted for use with either gel or liquid electrodes.
