Dedicated control of soft water supply
15 Jan 2000
Computer control and a patented regeneration process are the keys to Hydrotec's provision of soft water for industrial processes.
The Hydronic system features permanent memory monitors which record the quantity of water used each day, with a predictive capability for likely future usage. A reference against the amount remaining determines whether the system regenerates more.
Hydrotec points out that unnecessary regeneration costs money and causes excess wear and tear on such systems. User operations are presented on an LCD screen, showing time, water flowrates, hardness setting, percentage of softened water remaining and regeneration time.
Hydronic also has a timer with a rechargeable reserve power supply called a SuperCap capacitor, which provides back up power for more than 48 hours.
Conventional meter-controlled water softeners, says Hydrotec's Mike Darvill, do not have all of this functionality, as their programs are based on estimated national averages and not actual consumption of a business.
