Springing into action down in Dorset's badger land
15 Jan 2000
Local Blandford brewer Hall and Woodhouse is using an advanced new plant to treat the spring water for many of its well-known own-brand and contract soft drinks.
The turnkey contract was designed, manufactured, installed and commissioned by Arcrite, part of the Capital Controls Group. Hall and Woodhouse previously used a lime treatment plant to reduce the hardness and alkalinity of spring water for some of its soft drinks. This involved hydrated lime and ferric chloride, followed by carbon filtration. The replacement Arcrite installation uses ion exchangers for alkalinity reduction, chlorinators, carbon filters and, finally, polishing cartridge filters. The system has automatic monitoring and control.
