Alliances to forge lab/plant links
15 Jan 2000
As first reported in PE last month (see p39, March), process engineering software specialist Aspen Technology has now formally announced a strategic alliance with laboratory automation company Thermo LabSystems.
Under the terms of the agreement, the two companies are to integrate and market AspenTech's InfoPlus.21 process information manager software and LabSystems' SampleManager laboratory information management system.
According to AspenTech, the package will be the process industry's first to allow lab and plant personnel to easily access and analyse each other's data.
* In another lab/plant alliance, Malvern Instruments is to give exclusive process use of its EPCS in-line particle analysis system to Hosokawa Micron, specialist in powder processing systems.
