Obituary: Costimator
15 Jan 2000
It is with the deepest regret that we have this month to report the sudden death at the end of March of one of Process Engineering's longest serving contributors, 'Costimator'. In deference to his family's wishes and his own desire for anonymity over the ten years he authored our Process Economics section, we shall not name him. We can, however, pay fulsome tribute to his enthusiasm and evident expertise in presenting practical solutions to that most important role of a process engineer designing plant and managing projects within defined economic constraints. Costimator's own capabilities in these areas could not be questioned, supported as they were by a lifetime's experience in the process contracting and consultancy arenas.
His many 'mini-series' on topics as diverse as estimating whole plant costs to the best ways of settling contractual disputes are still in demand from regular readers who, we feel sure, appreciated the obvious professionalism of a fellow professional engineer.
He and his contributions will be sadly missed. Our condolences go to all his family and friends.
