Compact air exchangers
15 Jan 2000
The new TMS compressed air dryers from Ingersoll-Rand feature an improved, energy-efficient heat exchanger system. This comes in a smaller package with an average reduction in floor space of around 20 per cent.
The TMS removes water from air by passing it through an all-copper heat exchanger totally immersed in a thermal mass of water and glycol. The thermal mass, and hence the exchanger, are kept at a constant temperature by the refrigeration system in the dryer. This ensures that, even under varying load conditions, dry air is always provided at a specified pressure dew point, normally between 2-3 degreesC.
The TMS dryer range runs from 0.36 to 62.4m3/min and is claimed to produce more dry air per kW of power consumption than other dryers on the market.
