A dehumidification rotor aimed at sectors where hygiene is vital is available from moisture control specialist Munters. The unit will both absorb moisture and counteract mould and bacteria.
Normally, explains Munters, dehumidification rotors contain either lithium chloride or silica gel as their active ingredient. The former counteracts bacteria and mould, making it suitable for hygienic applications, but it is sensitive to atmospheric contaminants. Silica has a long lifetime and good dehumidification properties. The new rotor uses silica gel along with `patent pending additives which enhance the bacteriostatic and mould-resistant characteristics,' says Munters.
