Key drivers unveil strategic moves

* Following its recent takeover of AEG Systems and Automation, Cegelec unveiled a new company - Cegelec AEG Systems and Automation - aimed at giving the Cegelec group a stronger presence in key German and East European markets. Operating from existing headquarters in Frankfurt, the new company is expected to turnover around £600 million in its role as a contractor and systems integrator. `This makes Cegelec a fully fledged global player,' commented Charles Burch, marketing director of Cegelec's Industrial Control Products Division.
* Brook Hansen (part of BTR Power Drives) and Danfoss have entered into a strategic alliance that includes the foundation of a joint venture to produce integrated frequency converter motors. The global agreement also strengthens the international sales and service networks of both companies.
* Another strategic alliance announced was that between Mitsubishi and SMC Pneumatics. Apart from working together as business partners, SMC has also been appointed as one of the first approved systems integrators in Mitsubishi's recently launched Integration Partnership programme.
