Two pipeline filtration systems worth £200 000 have been installed at Esso's Fawley refinery by Alan Cobham. The deal includes a combination of hydrocyclones and special filters to cope with the flow rate of the pipelines, which is beyond the practical limit of single-stage pleated filter media.

* Chiller aid to separation

Grenco has won a £250 000 order for a water chiller to serve an oxygen air separation unit, under construction by BOC Process Plants, at a new steelworks south of Bombay. The 1260 tonnes/day air separation plant supplies the steelworks' requirement for oxygen, nitrogen and argon.

* Hamworthy has a flare for gas

Hamworthy Combustion Engineering (HCE) has installed and commissioned a 46m high, triple flare system for flaring excess blast furnace gas at a major steel works in Spain. Worth around £750 000, the project, commissioned through the company's Spanish subsidiary, Airoil Flaregas, is part of an integrated system at the works.

* Petrochemical sites in the frame

Framework orders valued at a total of £10 million have been awarded to Rotork Actuation for installation at three petrochemical sites in Asia. The contract includes two refineries being built for Reliance Oil at Jamnagar and Essar, plus a large plant to be built for Formosa Plastics in Taiwan.

* Oxidiser clears the air

Environmental control systems supplier, Haden, has installed a Drysys Environmental thermal oxidiser at Linpac Metal Decorating's premises. The contract, worth £400 000 has been carried out to put a stop to the volatile organic compound emissions caused by the metal decorating company's lacquering process.

* Chlorine treatment heads East

USF Wallace & Tiernan is supplying equipment to treat cooling water in a coal- and oil-fired power plant to be built at Sual in the Philippines for the Panganisan Electric Corporation. The contract, worth £300 000, includes the supply of chlorine drum handling equipment, drum scales, high capacity changeover panels and three A475 evaporators to produce gas from liquid chlorine.
