Sewage sludge control
15 Jan 2000
Atmospheric emissions monitoring equipment, made by Codel International, is to be fitted into a sewage sludge incineration plant being commissioned for North West Water at Shell Green in Cheshire.
The package comprises an integrated emissions monitoring (IEM) system, incorporating two Codel model 3000, cross-stack, multi-gas analysers. Both analysers are configured for monitoring carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, hydrogen chloride, oxides of nitrogen and water vapour.
Readings from each instrument are transmitted via serial data links to a PC running the company's purpose-designed, IEM software package. The software offers a convenient method of displaying real-time emissions data, as well as providing automatic alarm functions, compliance reporting and data storage facilities at a single, central location.
The system, along with the rest of the Shell Green plant, should be running by the end of October.
