AEA Technology keeps up the PASCE
15 Jan 2000
One of the world's largest chemical plants, currently being built in Port Arthur, Texas, has been completely computer-modelled in 3D using AEA Technology's PASCE software suite.
The $1billion ethylene/propylene plant is being built for the BASF Fina Petrochemicals joint venture by contractor ABB Lummus Global, who have already created the 3D model using a single database of all plant components and information. Any alterations made to the database automatically lead to corresponding changes to the 3D model.
Simulation knocking at an open door
The AEA Technology process simulation company Hyprotech has unveiled a prototype of its Hysis simulation software package that is compliant with the emerging Cape-Open standards for `plug and play' simulation software.
The prototype shows how Cape-Open compliant thermodynamic and unit operation components can be plugged into Hysis, making full use of OLE architecture.
* Hyprotech also launched last month its DISTIL software tool for the conceptual design of azeotropic distillation processes.
