Economos, together with its recently acquired company Merkel, have introduced what they say is `an entirely new material for seals and gaskets that offers exceptional operational reliability in an extensive range of applications'.
Described as a `PTFE with a memory', Flex-o-Form seals and gaskets can be used in all areas where PTFE is currently found; particularly where seals must be of food quality, temperature extremes present problems with elastomers, and where low leakage, low maintenance and ease of installation is wanted.
Recent comparative trials - against Quartz-PTFE on a vinyl acetate, ethylene and acetic acid duty at 10bar and 180 degreesC - showed Flex-o-Form was simpler to install and resulted in considerably less leakage, even when seals had been re-used up to 25 times.
