Good growth forecast for Cadcentre
15 Jan 2000
In its latest survey of the process plant design software market, the US analyst Daratech predicts that by the end of the year Cambridge-based Cadcentre Group will hold a 23 per cent share of the world market for installed 3D plant design and visualisation systems. Current market leader is Intergraph, with 56 per cent of the total market, but Cadcentre's expected growth will put it in the lead of the `high-end' sector of the market - defined by Daratech as software costing typically more than $10,000 per workstation.
The forecasts follow the recent agreement between Cadcentre and AEA Technology to form a strategic alliance in which Cadcentre will take over responsibility for AEAT's existing plant design customers worldwide (see PE, February 1999, p75).
