Curved profile makes suitable plates for treatment

Said to be ideal for use in the food, dairy and beverage indutries, the Fre-Flow Eurocal plate heat exchangers from Wincanton Engineering have been developed specifically for the heat treatment of viscous liquids or liquids containing solid particles.
Manufactured by Fischer, the exchangers solve the problems often associated with the use of fruit, powders and solid materials in sauces, yoghurt, juices and other liquid processing applcations.
Unlike conventional heat exchanger plates that can become clogged, the Eurocal models feature a bi-curve profile design that crosses the flow path of the liquid at right angles. Arranged in parallel, the curves of adjacent plates do not touch, so that the two media have free passage.
According to Wincanton, this curved design is very different from traditional exchangers where plates usually touch and support each other at several points.
