Module swap in hazard zone

R Stahl's new PowerBus is simplifying the engineering of hazardous, Zone 1, I/O systems. The I.S.1 is a protected remote I/O system that allows the supply of many I/O modules from a single power module. With the system being intrinsically safe, I/O modules can be added or exchanged in a Zone 1 hazardous area, just like standard modules in non-explosion protected systems. Standard point-to-point wiring is replaced by the PowerBus.
R Stahl claims 40 per cent cost savings can be made over a conventional installation in all phases of the project. Direct connection of Profibus PA and Fieldbus Foundation H1 into the I.S.1 system will be soon possible.
