IChemE marks its `double jubilee'
15 Jan 2000
The Institution of Chemical Engineers is 75 this year, and is also celebrating the 40th anniversary of receiving its royal charter. To mark this double anniversary, the IChemE is organising a range of activities centred around `Jubilee Week' in early April, aimed to promote chemical engineering research in the UK, and to raise the profile of the discipline with both the public and industry.
Jubilee Week begins with a research event in Nottingham, when younger researchers will meet to discuss their work. Later, in London, leading international chemical engineers will draw up a communique setting out a `broad problem-solving agenda', to be presented to their respective governments. Other events include the launch of an `accident database', showing how incidents could have been avoided.
