Allibert flooring gets a grip at ICI
15 Jan 2000
ICI Chemicals and Polymers has installed an Allibert 'Alligrid' GRP-reinforced floor at its potassium hydroxide plant in Runcorn (left). Constructed from square mesh GRP biphenol resin, the walkway and access stairs are designed to cope with a corrosive industrial environment.
Allibert says there were four reasons why ICI opted for its surface: its chemical resistance; 'maintenance-free' service; strength arising from its interwoven construction; and a safety surface with embedded silica chips. The Alligrid was cut and assembled on site without the need for specialist tools or labour.
Allibert offers a variety of resin types suitable for fire hazard areas and diverse industrial situations. GRP handrails, ladders and safety cages and other structural components are also available.
