Metal composites fit the bill
15 Jan 2000
Need a material which combines electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance, or high strength and biocompatibility? It might seem a tall order, but the answer could be to combine two materials into a composite.
Massachusetts-based Anomet Products specialises in such materials. Its composites feature two or more layers of metals such as gold, silver, platinum, palladium, niobium and tantalum, which are metallurgically bonded to copper- and nickel-based alloys. Titanium- or nickel-clad copper are available as wire, rod and bar stock.
