Eastern Europe goes green
15 Jan 2000
Worsening health problems in Eastern Europe are driving a fast-growing market in environmental technologies, according to the German Helmut Kaiser environmental consultancy. The markets in Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic are the most `dynamic', it says. Russia's is the largest, but is in such chaos that it will be near-impossible for it to reach its full potential. It will cost some DM500billion to raise Russian industry to Western European standards, but the market will barely reach DM30billion by 2010, says the report.
