ICI has plans for scrap recycling
15 Jan 2000
ICI has joined forces with Du Verger to pilot a new process to recycle scrap polyurethane, including hard-to-handle foam beads. The process reacts molten PU with diethylene glycol to produce a two-phase mixture. The upper layer contains flexible polyols and DEG, while the lower consists of excess DEG and amines derived from methyl diisocyanate. The MDI and polyols can be recycled into virgin PU.
