The appointment of Brendan O'Neill as chief operating officer at ICI(see News, p7) was accompanied by a reshuffle of the top jobs. Long-serving board member Rob Margetts moves up from executive vice-president to vice chairman; he has responsibility for industrial chemicals and regional businesses (outside the Americas and Asia). Margetts is also taking over technology and safety, health and environment from Paul Dreschler, who is to succeed John McAdam as chairman of Quest International. McAdam will become executive vice-president for coatings and chief executive of ICIpaints, and will also oversee Asian businesses. Finally, Joe McCollum is to join the firm as senior vice-president for human resources; he was previously with Asia Pacific drinks firm Lion Nathan.
Oakley gets his gun at BASF
Peter Oakley is to join the executive board of BASF, taking responsibility for the Americas and for fibre products. He is currently head of the firm's crop protection businesses.
