Keeping flow in the balance
15 Jan 2000
Crane Fluid Systems' recently launched range of automatic balancing valves automatically senses and controls flow to compensate for fluctuating system conditions.
Eight different flow settings allow the Multiset cartridge within the valve to be set to the desired design flow rate on-site. Any changes in differential pressure across the valve are compensated for by the dynamic action of a rolling diaphragm acting on a series of outlet windows. Movement of the diaphragm ensures that the differential pressure across the orifice, and hence the flow-rate, is constant. The range of 14 cartridges available gives a selection of over 100 individual flow rates from 0.016 to 1.43 l/s.
Where the differential across the valve falls below the minimum operating level, the rolling diaphragm ensures that the outlet windows will pass the maximum flow possible for the given inlet pressure - identical to the operation of a fixed orifice device.
The D960 range is available in sizes from 1/2 to 1 1/2in with threaded ends, and 15 to 35mm with solder ends. Temperature range at 20bar is -30 degrees to 100 degreesC.
