Critical solution to organic waste
15 Jan 2000
Swedish engineering company Chematur has acquired the rights to a waste water treatment technology based on oxidation using supercritical water from a Texan firm, Eco Waste Technologies, for an undisclosed sum.
The technology is designed to treat water streams containing liquid organic wastes. It uses water beyond its critical point, where it dissolves organic substances easily. Adding oxygen to this solution rapidly decomposes the organic wastes to carbon dioxide and water. The organics are destroyed with an efficiency often greater than 99.99 per cent, claims Chematur.
