Japanese boon time for UK mixer
15 Jan 2000
The innovative horizontal helical blade mixer (HHBM) from UK process plant specialist J R Boone has won the approval of Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation after successful trials at Boone's factory in Congleton, Cheshire.
The HHBM has now been delivered to a Mitsubishi site in Japan where it is being used in the manufacture of a new and highly viscous paste that is extremely difficult to mix.
Incorporating several features to ensure improved mixing at low speeds, the HHBM has a circular case with a short aspect ratio combined with a new blade and attachment arm design.
This combination enables the mixing elements to efficiently lift the product inwards, outwards and obliquely in a rapid `criss-cross' flow pattern.
A key issue for Mitsubishi was capacity, which the HHBM could deliver in its range of units from 50 litres to 10 000 litres.
