Sliding vanes for oil, ink and syrups

Designed to handle low- or high-viscosity liquids, the Blackmer-Mouvex `P' series sliding vane positive displacement pump range is currently being introduced to the UK by Ealing-based firm George Meller. The pumps, which are self-priming and reversible, can handle materials as diverse as fuel oils, inks, sugar syrups and tallow.
Sliding vane pumps are more efficient than conventional gear pumps, claims George Meller, which reduces energy costs. Moreover, the pumps self-compensate for wear, which ensures that maintenance costs do not increase with the pumps' service life.
Materials available include cast iron and stainless steel for the casings, and heating or cooling jackets can be fitted if the pump is used for materials likely to solidify or evaporate. The pumps can run dry for extended periods, making them useful for line-stripping when offloading tankers.
