STEP Tools adds support for IGES
15 Jan 2000
STEP Tools, software supplier for implementing the STEP standard, has added support for IGES to its data translation service on its web site.
The free service can translate IGES files into STEP; STEP files to and from the ACIS format for use with Autocad and other CAD systems; and translate STEP files to VRML, for visualisation.
New to the translation service is its ability to translate IGES files to AP202. STEP Application Protocol 202, Associative Draughting, is the latest product data exchange specification to become part of the International Standard 10303. STEP now provides standards which more accurately represent the information maintained by today's CAD and PDM systems, the company claims.
