Big bags fill the bill for Zeneca
15 Jan 2000
At its Huddersfield and Grangemouth sites, Zeneca has opted for multi-trip flexible containers to transport its bulk powder products to its main distribution point in Heywood, Lancashire.
Using `Big Bags' from IBC Bulk Containers, a division of Structure-flex, Zeneca now gets up to five return trips from its containers, which reduces waste and decreases the firm's packaging costs.
Varying in size from 500kg to 1 tonne, the bags have a reusable outer container, which is fitted with an easy-fit removable inner liner. Empty Big Bags are then collapsed and returned, at minimal cost, to the plant for re-use. The inner liners prevent contamination.
