Jersey New Waterworks has awarded a contract worth over £4.5 million to Weir Westgarth to supply a 1.32 million gallon/day seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant. The plant at La Rosiere on the holiday island will replace existing multistage flash evaporators and will be the largest of its type in the British Isles.
Orders not evaporating away
Evaporator orders worth £1.5 million have enabled Pfaudler-Balfour's Engineered Systems division to mark the opening of its new purpose-built manufacturing plant in Leven, Scotland, with renewed confidence. The plant has been designed specially to produce process systems incorporating stainless steel Stratavap, tubular and wiped-film-effect evaporators.
Siemens scoops sludge scheme
As part of a £1.2 million contract from North West Water's Warrington works, Siemens Industrial Projects & Systems has completed the refurbishment of the first of three sludge digesters, which will reduce the solids content of 237 300tonnes/ year of sludge before transfer into the Mersey Valley Sludge Pipeline.
Pumpsets set fair for Sicily
Glasgow-based Weir Pumps is supplying ten bareshaft Uniglide sea-water circulation pumpsets to the Priolo Gargallo refinery in Sicily. A £1.2 million order from contractor Snamprogetti, the pumps feature austenitic Ni-resist cast iron casings with stainless steel internals.
Neu picks up new VOC contracts
Air movement and system design company Neu Engineering has recently received two further orders for its VOC-abatement systems. A £1 million contract from BTR Graphic Products is for its Swindon and Slough manufacturing plants, while the other order is for vinyl wall-covering producer Forbo-Lancaster.
Keystone butterflies fly to China
Keystone Flow Control of Glasgow has won a £160,000 order from Kennicott Water Systems for high pressure butterfly valves and pneumatic/electric actuators for two major condensate polishing plants operated by China's main power generation company.
