Pilz plugs gap in PC/HMI market
15 Jan 2000
A range of operator terminals to be launched next month by Pilz uses Windows CE as its operating system. Because of the openness of this system, the new Pilz Machine Interfaces (PMIs) are said to fill the gap in the market between standalone graphics terminals and fully-functioned industrial PCs. Pilz says the familiar `look and feel' of Windows CE helps overcome the problems of incompatibility between display units and industrial PCs. `Run-time' versions of project software can now be run on a standard PC as well as on the PMI operator terminal.
