Just strap on to measure flow
15 Jan 2000
From Crane Perflow comes a novel portable flowmeter that is simply strapped to the outside of a pipe, using Velcro tapes, to measure hot or cold liquid flows to an accuracy of 1 per cent.
The Personic meter consists of a compact, rugged transducer unit - which is strapped to the pipe - connected by two-metre long flexible plug-plug leads to an IP65 water- and dust-proof hand-held intelligent instrument.
After keying in the answers to a few questions about pipe size and so on, the operator can read flow rates on the instrument's back-lit LCD to three significant figures in l/sec or gpm, updated every one or, optionally, two seconds.
