Intended to help smaller to medium-sized British companies gain a foothold in the lucrative but awkward Japanese market, the British Industry Centre in Yokohama is particularly keen to attract process equipment suppliers. The centre - a joint venture between the Department of Trade and Industry, a group of UK industrialists, and the City of Yokohama - provides companies with office space, showrooms and training facilities, and removes the problems of high property costs and legal requirements
