£28m water contract

North West Water has awarded the AMEC-PUREC jv a £28 million contract for work at Bromborough wastewater treatment works in Merseyside. This is part of Bechtel's five-year £1.66 billion contract to provide treatment for the major conurbations on the Wirral by 2001 in line with EU directives.
The jv's scope comprises of new preliminary, primary, secondary and sludge treatment together with construction and commissioning of the new plant and decommissioning of the old plant.
