Radio dividends for Zeneca
15 Jan 2000
An integral element in a 5-year rolling strategic project to implement remote services metering and monitoring across Zeneca's 250 acre site in Huddersfield, the installation of low power telemetry systems from PACS has produced significant benefits.
Improved metering and monitoring of water flows at the site has been a key feature in reducing water consumption by 40 per cent a year, equating to annual savings of £800000. David Lloyd, Zen- eca's site energy manager, says 'through improved monitoring, availability of data, and management we have achieved a reduction in water demand from 400m3/h to 240m3/h. In cost terms our annual bill is £1.2 million rather than £2 million.'
Other benefits include the production of standard reports in 1.5 days compared with the 6 man days/month previously needed.
