Pump chamber screens solids
15 Jan 2000
Mono's track record in river water abstraction has secured it a contract from North West Water to design, manufacture, supply and install screening equipment to the River Wyre Pumping station. Four Discreen units handle solid matter and debris in the river water, which normally caused blockage problems within previous pump chamber.
Constructed using a series of shafts, each fitted with overlapping and intermeshing discs, the Discreens convey solids and debris across the face of the screen, while also allowing screened effluent to pass through. The Wyre water is pumped to Franklaw where it undergoes further treatment to produce high quality drinking water. A Discreen pump in Scotland is also being used to extract up to a million gallons of river water a day.
